The BMTR “Mayhem In NYC” event is about getting on the bike, grouping up with others along the way and having some “crazy fun” (see below :). How fast or hard you choose to ride it and how far you choose to go is up to you!

For some, the BMTR “Mayhem In NYC” event will also be a personal challenge against the distance and/or the clock. Some participants will ride the event like a race and others will ride it more casually with their primary goal to be completing the distance.

Even though it's not “officially” a race, for those that may be treating it as such, there will be end-of-event results available.


WHY “MAYHEM?” - BECAUSE IT WILL BE CRAZY FUN!

Ok, so given that the La Guardia route is only 1.7 miles (2.7 km) per lap and that each group will do anywhere from 14 to 31 laps, things could get a little crazy, perhaps even a tad chaotic!

However, we'd like to think of it as controlled chaotic fun... mayhem! What do we mean?

As usual at the start, riders will form groups with others going at similar speeds. Due to each lap being only 1.7 miles (2.7 km), over the course of the event, faster groups/riders will be continually merging with and attempting to pass slower ones.

Many of the riders being passed will attempt to hold on to the faster ones – getting into their draft – for as long as they can . So, new groups with a mixture of abilities will be continually and dynamically changing/forming throughout the ride.

So “mayhem” in this case means there will be a bit of chaos and some “crazy fun.” There is nothing else like this on Zwift, so you don't want to miss it!


DISTANCES

The Mayhem In NYC event gives you a choice of three distances: 55, 40 and 25 miles (89, 64 and 40 km); all three take place on the NYC La Guardia Route (reverse).

LAPS & ELEVATION

25 Mile Route: 14 laps, 1,300 ft. (396 m)
40 Mile Route: 22 laps, 2,050 ft. (625 m)
55 Mile Route: 31 laps, 2,800 ft. (853 m)


GROUPS

Unlike other Zwift events, the A, B and C groups do not refer to rider strength or fitness. Instead, they correspond to distance.

- A Group: 55 Miles (89 km). The A group is not a faster group, just a group that wants to ride this distance.

- B Group: 40 Miles (64 km). The B group is not a slower group, just a group that wants to ride this distance. .

- C Group: 25 Miles (24 km). The C group is not a slower group, just a group that wants to ride this distance.
