EVENT DESCRIPTION
Come and join Team CLS CC for our This 'n' That Thursday Ride with the roads reserved for our group ONLY. The ride is aimed at introducing people to some TEMPO work and CLIMBING. Some people look to avoid hills but unfortunately, they don't go away and should form an essential part of your training. This is proving a very popular ride with numbers growing all the time.

Please add the TAG - (CLS) after your surname to take full advantage of post ride results and enable the group to identify each other and we recommend a 15 to 20 mins pre-ride warm up, this will really help you enjoy the ride and not feel the pace is too hot from the off.

After leaving the start gate we settle in to our standard ‘Warm Up’ level of 2.3 w/kg. The Ride will then settle in to a steady ‘Tempo Pace’ of 2.7 to 3.0 w/kg on the flats, focussing on sticking as close as we can to experience of drafting at its best. On the climbs, we raise it to an average of 3.5 w/kg, after which we quickly settle back into our ‘Tempo Pace’ so not much time for a rest. The leader will announce any changes in pace as the ride progresses.

As this is a ‘Workout Ride’, we will not be able to slow to sweep riders, so if you do find yourself off the back follow the routine and complete the ride at your pace, any workout is a good workout and most importantly of all - don’t let those hills beat you!

For anyone with energy left in the tank we often end the rides with a Sprint / Race finish for a bit of fun, and we will ask for riders that want to take part to be behind the leader and wait for the message to ‘Go’. More info in ride.

Come and join us, it would be great to meet some new people and welcome them to our group. We run a Facebook Group - Team CLS CC which we encourage people to follow for news and other group ride info and events. It is also a great place to ask any questions you may have about Zwift and we will do our best to answer them for you. For your information, we run an INTERVAL session on Tuesday and a relaxing RECOVERY ride on Sunday, both at the same time as this one. Then finally, on Saturday, we have a two identical Social ENDURANCE rides of approximately 50 miles that set off at 09:00 and 16:25 on varied courses, they last about 2 ½ hours. We have tried to put together a weekly package that will allow riders to both enjoy their indoor sessions and back that up with some great workouts that will improve your fitness.
