Group Ride

EVENT DESCRIPTION
The RO4H Wednesday Spin is the midweek social group ride where our friendly, casual, supportive, and respectful RO4H atmosphere welcomes everyone, from the most seasoned Zwifter to the first-time group ride participant. We strive to harness the power of the group draft, encourage comradery, and embrace the RO4H motto that we are better together.

The yellow peloton's pace varies depending on the terrain, but the ride will have an overall average pace of around 19 MPH (30 KPH). The peloton's pace on the flat sections will be slightly faster due to the strong draft effect of the peloton. We strive to remain under 2 W/KG on climbs. Routes are typically flat with short hills; most Zwift routes have some rolling terrain. Sometimes, we take slightly hillier routes to earn different route badges, but most rides will be gently rolling, flatter terrain. Speedsters do have a chance to stretch their legs during the optional "Speed Deacon Sprint" featured on the final lap.

We encourage riders to stick with the yellow peloton led by the ride leader in order to promote the social aspect of the ride and benefit from the large group draft effect. This is unquestionably not a race, despite the belief held by some that every Zwift ride is. We do not pursue flyers, but they are free to fly*.

While our goal is to be a no-drop ride, any pace ultimately represents a great effort for some and a recovery pace for others. Therefore, sweepers are available to assist riders. We do not want anyone to ride alone unless they choose to. The sweeper team will help riders bridge to the leader's peloton or form variable-pace gruppettos. I hear that all the "cool kids" hang out in the sweeper bus anyway.
So join the RO4H Wednesday Spin, where friends are plentiful and we are better together.

*If you are a flyer, please do not organize your flyers using the group in-game chat. This confuses other riders trying to find the main yellow peloton and disrupts the social aspect of the ride. Please use private messages to communicate within your flyer group. We do not use the active fence but will if flyers disrupt the social aspect of this ride.
