L39ION of LA Crit Series
Compete with Legends on Neokyo’s latest course
Global Cycling Network calls L39ION of LA “the coolest team in cycling.” Bicycling calls team captain Justin Williams “the world’s most important bike racer.” And your friends at Zwift are calling on you to race the inaugural L39ION of LA Crit series.
Like all crit races, these will be fast and furious. Like the best crit races, they’ll be at night. And unlike IRL crit races, crashing is all but impossible.
FOR NEW AND EXPERIENCED RACERS
Crit racing is so fun and exciting, you barely realize that competing against fellow Zwifters is one of the best workouts you can get. With options for all abilities, the L39ION of LA Crit Series is great for those who are new to competing as well as longtime racers.
HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR GROUP
All races are grouped by how many watts/kilogram (w/kg) Zwifters can average for the duration. Newbies should probably start out with group D (1 - 2.4 w/kg) or group C (2.5-3.1 w/kg.) The fastest of the fast should register for group A (4+ w/kg). If you’ve raced before, you probably know your category, but there’s more info here.
Women can choose between the women’s races and the open races.
WHAT IF I’M NEW TO RACING?
Get ready for fast fun! 10-time National Crit Champion and mentor to Justin Williams, Rahsaan Bahati is leading a pre-series Group Ride where he’ll share some tips for new racers.
Racers can earn points during every race. Those points are tallied in the overall AKA General Classifications standings.
One caveat: you need to be on ZwiftPower to earn points. Sign up well in advance. It’s free but can take some time, so give yourself a few minutes.
ZwiftPower will level the playing field. If a Zwifter competes in the wrong category, they will not earn points. So be sure to choose well.
ABOUT THE L39ION of LA CRIT SERIES
This is the first year of the 4-event series. Zwifters in Category A events, this is your chance to compete against L39ION team riders. No pressure!
Worst case scenario? You get to use the most popular refrain from the 2021 US Crit Season: “A L39ION racer won.”
