EVENT DESCRIPTION
Lockdown isn’t a license to let your fitness go. That’s why GCN Host Simon Richardson has taken up a new challenge. Can he get fitter despite this new reality of working from home and social distancing? And will he come out ahead of the competition, as other GCN presenters are throwing down to see who makes the biggest quarantine leap?
Join us on this group workout for some tough intervals and fun conversation with the GCN crew! Pedal with presenters from UK, Spain, Japan, Italy, Germany, and France. It’ll be like the United Nations on wheels.
This four-week training series is a mix of workouts grabbed from various Zwift training plans, with a Wednesday race to test our limits. The plan, assembled by Zwift Performance Consultant, Kev Poulton, is designed to help get you fitter in just four short weeks.
You can also follow Simon’s progress by tuning into the GCN Series here.
ABOUT THIS WORKOUT
This workout is led by GCN presenter Simon Richardson and is from the L’Etape du Tour Training Plan. It’s called Mitochondria #2.
In this session we include short, controlled intervals above threshold with minimal recovery. This type of training provides the perfect stimulus to increase mitochondrial density and sustainable power.
There is a sting in the tail though. The session finishes with a 10 minute sub-threshold effort. There is no getting away from the benefits of long aerobic intervals.
