EVENT DESCRIPTION
The Sunday Sundae hits your sweetspot with a big, friendly, supportive and hilly group ride! We cruise the flats in a big blob at steady base pace (circa 2.3-2.5 w/kg); we hit long climbs at sweetspot to threshold interval pace; and we regroup after descents (see below). The climbing pace will be clearly announced before and during each climb and will *usually* be in the 2.8-3.2 w/kg. Course varies from week to week, with total duration normally in the 90-120 minutes range, except for special events.
Please follow the ride leader's instructions and remember that this is not a race. The goal is to ride together, support each other and have fun! Remember also that power figures in this description are those of the beacon and those numbers will vary based on, amongst other factors, rider weight.
REGROUPING
Things will stretch out on the climbs, and that's normal. After the descents, those in front of the beacon will be expected to wait, and there will also be a period of "slow roll" (2.0 w/kg) to allow those not too far behind the beacon to rejoin the peleton for the next flat.
Note that there is currently no sweep for this ride. We aim to stay together, but if you get gapped by the blob, losing the draft effect of the group will make it very difficult to get back and you may be dropped. If/when that happens, you should try to form a gruppetto with others holding a similar pace in order to complete the ride.
