EVENT RULES
This event has the following requirements:
EVENT DESCRIPTION
Thursdays’ Team Pursuit includes three teams starting at different times. Team C will start first followed by Team B, with Team A departing last. The goal is for the faster teams behind to catch Team C during the ride while all three teams hold their respective advertised paces. Starting time gaps may be adjusted during the season to maintain the ride concept, that being: as faster teams catch the team(s) in front, the catch will offer riders in a slower group who wish to increase their effort to do so by joining the faster team as they pass. Additionally, the catch offers riders in the faster team(s) the opportunity to jump in with the slower team(s) and recover to the finish. Riders who jump onto a faster team may realize they cannot hold the pace have an option to fall back to their starting group and try the same the next week to see if they can hold on longer. This is a great way to get stronger riding in a team format.
All rides include a 30-minute Late Join period. During this time, dropped riders can use Late Join to rejoin their team. If you find that the team you selected is either too fast or too slow for your pace, you can switch teams within the first 30 minutes of the start time of the team you would like to join by using Late Join.
We do not sweep during the first 30 minutes of a ride. If you fall behind for any reason during this time, we recommend using Late Join. We usually do not have designated sweepers (Red Beacon). After the first 30 minutes, if you get dropped and want to rejoin your team, please send a message in the format HELP(X), where X is the number of seconds you are off the back (for example, HELP5). If you reach out early, one or more stronger riders may come to assist you. If a sweep is needed we recommend you message help within 10 seconds.
We look forward to having you join us. The team pursuit is an excellent endurance and strength building adventure.
