SPORT IS FOR ALL OF US

ON March 31, 2021 by alyssa.henning@zwift.com

Every person has the right to access sport and competition. Today, on International Transgender Day of Visibility, we want to show our support and help raise awareness of the daily discrimination faced by this community. We support and stand by all trans athletes in their pursuit of sport and competition.

We are disappointed that a new wave of legislation in the United States is currently threatening the rights of trans athletes. Earlier this month, Mississippi was the first US state to pass legislation banning young transgender girls from taking part in school sports. Similar bills have subsequently passed in Tennessee and Arkansas with more than 80 anti-trans bills being considered across the country.

There is no place for discrimination of any kind in Zwift, our community, or society. We stand united with the transgender community in firm opposition to these bills and defend the right that every person should have access to sport and competition.

Zwift proudly supports the LGBTQIA+ community but we know that we have much more work to do. Over the past three years, we have supported Athlete Ally, who have in-turn been advising us on how we can make Zwift a more inclusive and welcoming space for the LGBTQIA+ community. We are proud to host ongoing LGBTQIA+ social ride and run events and we welcome the ongoing discussion on our podcasts all year long.

With the guidance and the support of our Zwift LGBTQIA+ community, we have seen real progress but we recognize there is more to be done. Over the years, our employees have informally organized to foster these values and work with our community to actively listen and learn. To that end, we are formalizing this self-organized group into a fully supported LGBTQIA+ Employee Resource Group and Inclusion Council which will help drive increased inclusion and representation both in the game and on our teams.

Lastly, Zwift CEO, Eric Min has solidified our commitment to supporting trans athletes by signing the Freedom for All Americans Statement on Anti-LGBTQ Legistlation.

The road to achieving true equality is long and complex, yet we are committed to driving positive change and making Zwift and sport a welcoming space for the LGBTQIA+ Community.

One Zwift for All.
