Upgrade Your Trainer with Zwift Cog and Click: Unlock Virtual Shifting & Ultimate Compatibility

Thanks to firmware updates from our third-party partners, a number of smart trainers are now compatible with Zwift Cog and Click. This means you can take your setup to the next level by unlocking virtual shifting, and gain compatibility with any 8-12-speed bike as well as full compatibility with other equipment in the Zwift ecosystem.

What is Zwift Cog and Click?

Zwift Cog and Click are designed to simplify and elevate your Zwift experience. This upgrade replaces your existing cassette with Zwift Cog, which offers compatibility with 8-12-speed bikes and gives optimal chain alignment. This is paired with the wireless Zwift Click controller, which can be mounted anywhere on your set up. The result? Instant control over a wide range of 24 virtual gears, less bike maintenance, and the ultimate compatibility across a wide range of bikes.

Which trainers are compatible with Zwift Cog and Click?

The following trainers are currently compatible with the Zwift Cog and Click upgrade. Additional models will be added over time.

How to Upgrade Your Trainer

1. Check Compatibility

Start by confirming that your smart trainer is compatible with Zwift Cog and Click and that firmware to enable virtual shifting is available for your trainer model. 

2. Choose the Right Zwift Cog

The upgrade kit comes in two versions:

• Multi-Trainer Freehub Cog: Designed for most smart trainers.
• No-Freehub Cog: Compatible with trainers where the multi-trainer freehub cannot be installed, such as the Elite Direto XR(-T). 

3. Install the Zwift Cog

Installation involves replacing your trainer’s cassette with the Zwift Cog. Depending on your trainer, this may require tools like a chain whip and a lockring tool.

4. Update Firmware

Use your trainer’s firmware app to install the latest update, enabling control of virtual shifting.
