FUN IS FAST. AND HUMID. ZWIFT AT KONA.

It all came down to this, the 2019 IRONMAN World Championships. The Specialized Zwift Academy Tri Team took to the lava battle fields to race the best athletes in the World. Did they realize their goals or be humbled by the Big Island? Watch to find out.

ROAD TO KONA 2019

Pro athletes, Lionel Sanders & Lucy Charles, are not only familiar faces in Watopia but also burning for race day. Check out their preparation ahead of the Big Dance, October 12th.

Race day did not disappoint! From new champions being crowned to humbling experiences, the 2019 IRONMAN World Championships was one to remember. Well done to everyone who raced, inspirational! Check out the scenes from a hard, hot and long day on the Big Island below.

And it cannot go unmentioned. A massive well done to the whole Specialized Zwift Academy Tri Team, who battled the elements and gave it everything. Here are their Age-Group placings:

When it comes to authentic IRONMAN traditions, the Underpants Run takes the cakes. Continuing its 22 year streak, hundreds of IRONMAN athletes strip down to their skimpies and show off all the hard work that’s been put in to get to this point. With the World Championships just a few days away, some athletes take the run more seriously than others! Oh and it’s time for the athletes to check in.

3 legendary pros, 2 Zwift Academy Tri Team athletes, all the coffee! The Zwift House hosted the WITSUP crew for some breakfast and convo on women in triathlon. As we get closer to race day, the athletes are sharpening fitness to be primed and ready for the big dance.

Tuesday morning was all about tackling the climb up to Hawi as a team. Oh, and grabbing a well earned coffee at the top. A few athletes had runs to do, while in town the Parade of Nations kicked off. Check out the action below.

No better way to work up an appetite than riding around active volcanoes at sunrise! Following the workouts, we were beyond excited to be joined for lunch by six-time IRONMAN World Champion and legend, Mark Allen. Stay tuned for more action with the King of Kona.
