Of the 160,000 Zwifters who participated in Zwift Academy Road, some had their eyes on a life-changing prize: pro bike racing contracts for 2023.

There were two up for grabs: one from CANYON//SRAM and another from Alpecin-Deceuninck.

The ten finalists hailed from Australia, America, and many countries in between. They met this fall in Denia, Spain to fight for those contracts.

The 2022 Zwift Academy Road winners are Luca Vergallito and Alex Morrice.

Join Luca on a casual spin with his new team Alpecin-Deceuninck.

Luca is a student from Milan, Italy, and is finishing his Master’s degree in sports science. A passionate cyclist, his studies help him “bridge the gap between science and practice.”

He’s his own guinea pig, applying what he studies—training strategy, nutrition, and more—to improve his performance.

From his contract-earning performance in Spain, it looks like his studies are paying life-changing dividends.
