イベント概要
Major Taylor 1899
Marshall Walter “Major” Taylor was a cycling legend.
In 1899 Major Taylor won the 1-mile and 2-mile track sprint world championships in Montreal, Canada. Major Taylor was the first USA-born African American world champion in any sport. He won the American sprint championships in 1899 and 1900.
There are more than 60 cycling clubs in the U.S. affiliated with the Major Taylor Association. Since each club operates independently without one governing body, most clubs agreed to come together and share in the responsibilities of leading these Zwift rides under the Major Taylor 1899 (MT1899) name. If you look closely at the acronym used, following the ride leader’s name, you can tell which club is leading/sweeping the ride. Regardless of the club leading for the night, all clubs are glad you decided to ride with us during this Zwift event.
To find a Major Taylor club in a city near you, please visit the Major Taylor Association website.

Fun FACT: One of Major Taylor’s nicknames was “the Worcester Whirlwind.”

Our group rides are designed to be rides that are great for FUN group rides and not designed for RACING. We ask that anyone joining the event respect the pace set by the beacon.
We will host an “Everyone” ride at 6:30pm EST. This slight adjustment will take us through the summer. The event category rides will resume in the fall.
