Sunday, June 28th
イベント概要
Cure Parkinson’s “Raid Local” is a unique, celebrity-led endurance event over 3 stages on the 28th June. 137km total distance and 3,700m of elevation gain over the combined 3 stages: equivalent to Day 1 of the charity’s iconic Raid Alpine event (cancelled due to COVID-19). Mike Tindall MBE leads the identical ride on roads in the UK, and his celebrity friends lead the ride within Zwift.
Stage 1 will be led by Olympic Cycling legend Sir Chris Hoy. Riders will be able to ask Sir Chris questions via the in-event messaging facility.
The Sweeper for Stage 1 will be Iain Balshaw, MBE, member of England’s winning Rugby World Cup 2003 team and the ride will include other sports legends including Wales’ Shane Williams and England’s Austin Healey.
The celebrity race leaders and sweepers will be joined during the Raid Stages by Amy Williams, MBE, Gold Medal skeleton, Winter Olympics 2010, by Lee Westwood, OBE, 7 Ryder Cup wins, and by Kirsty Gallacher, Sports Presenter and TV Personality.
Celebrity lead riders will target a 2 - 2.5 w/kg pace for the first hour of each stage. Riders are encouraged to ride as a group during that time, and at their own pace for the remainder of the stage.
This is a fundraising event for The Cure Parkinson’s Trust, a leading charity funding research to slow, stop and reverse Parkinson’s. In these COVID-19 times, CPT needs donations more than ever. They receive no government funding and rely on challenge events to support their cutting-edge research. In 2020, 95% of their events have been cancelled, so your support during these uncertain times matters more than ever. If you are able to, please make a donation to Cure Parkinson's “Raid Local” Just Giving campaign:
