When will applications open for the 2019 team?

The application period opens on Friday, December 21st, 2018.

When is the closing date for applications?

Be sure to get your applications in by 11:59pm (Pacific Standard Time) on Thursday, January 31st, 2019.

When will the final team be announced?

On or around Friday, March 1st, 2019.

How do I apply for the team?

All you have to do is full out the application form before the closing date. It’s simple, straightforward, and takes less than 5 minutes to complete.

Are there any restrictions?

We’re inviting triathletes from all age groups (18+) to apply. All we ask is that applicants should be confident in their ability to qualify for Kona in 2019. Be at least Level 12 (cycling) AND Level 3 (running) on Zwift by the closing date. Oh, you’re sporting higher numbers than that? Even better. Please review the full program rules .

I am over Level 12 Cycling but have never used Zwift Run, can I still apply?

You may fill in the application form, but only those at or above both Level 12 Zwift Cycling and Level 3 Zwift Running by the closing date will be eligible for selection.

Do I have to take part in any races or workouts in order to qualify for the team?

Not at all. The team will be selected based on the answers gathered during the application process. There’s no requirement to complete specific races or workouts.

How many athletes will be selected for the 2019 team?

We plan to bring in 8 athletes onto the team.

What are the benefits of joining this team?

Zwift Academy Tri Team members will train like pros under the mentorship of tri superstars Tim Don and Sarah True. You’ll enjoy benefits that money can’t buy like a session in the Specialized Win Tunnel, an opportunity that only select pros get to experience.

There are also quite a few benefits that money can buy but add up quickly. We’re talking a new Specialized Shiv. Generous product support from Roka, Science in Sport, and Wahoo. Not to mention an all-expenses-paid trip to Kona as well as training camps in California and Spain.

I already have sponsors of my own. Can I continue to represent them?

No. During your time as a Zwift Tri Team member, you must only represent Zwift and our brand partners.

Am I able to continue working with my current coach?

Yup! We’ll be monitoring all team athletes’ training as well as providing advice through team mentors but we’re happy for athletes to continue existing coaching relationships.

I have never raced a triathlon, can I still apply?

You bet! If you feel you have a background that suggests you can excel at the sport, we’re excited to hear from you.
