RIDE WITH REASON

Ride With Reason is back. For its second year, we’ve expanded our efforts and are supporting more causes through the power of sport. Starting November 5th, we’re hosting 4 cycling challenges over the month – one each week – with community-based and individual goals and unlocks.  These goals vary between charities –  from mileage targets to climbing-based challenges. Once achieved, the community will unlock a donation that will be made to each given charity on their behalf by Zwift.

Show up in solidarity with the Zwift community and make your miles matter.

WEEK 1 – NOV 5TH – 11TH – CLIMB FOR COSTA

Adrien Costa was one of America’s rising young guns in cycling. In 2014, he became US junior time trial champion and won a silver medal in the World Championships time trial later that year. On July 29, 2018, he was involved in a serious accident while climbing in Mono County, California. When he was scrambling up the climbing route, a large rock, weighing around 4,000 pounds, gave way and pinned his leg against a boulder below. Although his life was saved, the doctors had no choice but to amputate his right leg above the knee. To support medical expenses and increase the community’s awareness, the first week of charity month will be designated to support Adrien Costa.

The Challenge: Climb 400m // 1312ft over the course of the week to unlock special in-game cycling shoes.  Once 25,000 Zwifters complete this challenge, we’ll unlock $25,000 to support medical care and rehab for Adrien Costa.

WEEK 2 – NOV 12th – 18th – RIDE FOR QHUBEKA

Zwift and Team Dimension Data team up with the goal of unlocking 500 bikes to donate to Qhubeka. Qhubeka is a global non-profit organization dedicated to advancing education, health, and economic opportunities by providing simple, sustainable transportation with bicycles. We’re swapping out the Ride On thumb for the Qhubeka High Five in all group rides this week. Zwift Academy finalist and Team Dimension Data pro will lead some group rides during the week 2. The schedule of group ride leading by Team Dimension Data pros and Zwift Academy finalist can be found here.

The Challenge: Complete ANY 2 group rides during the week to unlock an in-game cycling cap.  If 25,000  Zwifters complete this challenge, Zwift will donate 500 bikes to Qhubeka. All group rides will count.

WEEK 3 – NOV 19th – 25th – TEAM RAMSAY, SUPPORTING GREAT ORMOND STREET HOSPITAL CHILDREN’S CHARITY

Join us as we support The Gordon and Tana Ramsay Foundation, which is partnered with Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity. Every day, 619 children and young people from across the UK arrive. Every day, doctors and nurses battle the most complex illnesses, and the brightest minds come together to achieve pioneering medical breakthroughs. And every day is a chance for you to make a difference.  The Gordon and Tana Ramsay Foundation is helping to give seriously ill children the best chance for life and helping to make Great Ormond Street Hospital an even more extraordinary place. Zwift will be donating $25,000 to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity as part of this challenge, which could support 80 families with critically ill children. When a child is critically ill keeping families together during difficult times is vital this donation could pay for 80 families to stay for a week in nearby family accommodation so parents can stay close by while their child is in hospital.

Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity. A company limited by guarantee (company number 09338724) and a registered charity (charity number 1160024). Registered office: 40 Bernard Street, London WC1N 1LE.

The Challenge: Burn 1,000 Calories in Zwift over the week and unlock a set of Ride With Reason sunglasses for your avatar.  If 25,000 Zwifters complete this challenge, we’ll unlock $25,000 to support Great Ormond Street Hospital.

WBR focuses on the rural regions of developing countries where bicycles are a life-changing tool of empowerment. Join the challenge in Zwift and take pride in being part of the goodwill.
